So, my love for garden gnomes has grown to uncomfortable levels. When I set my sites upon gnomes which are among the world’s largest, like this one, things just start getting weird. I mean, isn’t he cute?! Not as cute as Chomsky, the giant gnome here in my native Hudson Valley, but this guy apparently likes to garden, which is a plus in my book.
Jody, the travel blogger at Family Rambling who wrote a guest post for us on the world’s largest Souvenir Travel Plate, got to meet this fellow in person. Ten points to the first person who can tell me where it is! Yes, he’s been referenced in a previous post, if you want to search. Hehe, made ya look. Fifty points if you can tell me his name!!
Also, I feel compelled to remind you to save the date of February 11th for the premiere of the animated movie Gnomeo and Juliet. It’s the humorous story of two garden gnomes who try to avoid tragedy and find a happy ending to their star-crossed love affair when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors. CAN’T WAIT!!

Don’t know where this guy is but so want to see the Gnome movie!
His name is Hans, Das mad Gärtner (The Mad Gardener), Defender of the Gnome Forest (It’s an elected post). Don’t be mislead by the flowers in his left hand because in his right he wields the mighty Schwert der Vorfahren (Sword of the Ancestors), and he would just as soon use it to cut you down in your tracks in defense of his land, as he would use it to trim back the Marigolds. While he is generally good-natured and peaceful, this youngster has been known to exhibit a bit of a temper when he senses a possible threat (or if he hasn’t had a snack by mid-day). Not to worry though because at 107 years old, he still has many more years of maturation ahead of him. Other than providing the general description indicated above (the Gnome Forest), which everyone already knew, I wouldn’t dare invoke Hans’ ire by disclosing the exact location of his whereabouts.
Brother dear, WHAT did you eat for breakfast this morning?! I think you should be writing books. J.K. Rowling, move over!
He’s in Ames, Iowa (Reiman Gardens). Got to kidnap a grandchild to see Gnomeo & Juliet. Gnomes and fairies take over our back yard in the spring.
